Duct-Pro is our complete sheet metal estimating program which includes sheet metal and an excel recap sheet. It’s comprehensive, affordable, user friendly and flexible. It works on 32 and 64 bit processors and on windows XP, Vista and WIN 7 operating systems. We currently have four versions for sheet metal estimating to match your procedures.
The various versions and options for sheet metal estimating all include liner, duct wrap, sealer, SMACNA pressure classes, reinforcement(including Duct Mate and TDF), accessories, miscellaneous and much more. Where appropriate many items are customizable in description. All costs and labor productivities are adjustable.
The formulas for doing the calculations are not customizable. The special factors feature allows you to change material and labor factors on a designated job basis; you can also adjust job labor and material to reflect the job difficulty or an overall increase in material costs.
An Excel spread sheet has also been incorporated to which the sheet metal summary can be exported. The spread sheet also includes areas for equipment and subcontractor costs, start up, warranty, delivery and other costs as well as sales tax, overhead and profit, and bond cost. When you provide the tons and sq. ft. of the project, the cost of the job/ton and sq. ft. is provided which is convenient to use as a reference and is of benefit when incorporated into historical data. The costs of sheet metal, pipe and insulation are also calculated on a per ton and per sq. ft. basis.
A more complete view of the program can be obtained by downloading a demo and reviewing the input screens and help sections provided therein. Much of this same information is available in the tutorial section of this website
Descriptions of the versions along with a discussion of the features are provided below:
All versions are included in the software, you merely select the one that is most appropriate for your company. You can change at any time by selecting a different version. All four versions have the same input screens and calculate lbs and quantities in exactly the same manner. They differ in the manner in which the output is calculated and presented.
Version I
This was the first version developed for our in house use. It does not include shop labor. Material costs reflect prices paid to local fabricators and vendors. Field labor is based on the installation of duct in linear ft./hr with the productivity changing based on duct size.
Version II
Addresses both shop and field labor with productivity for both based in lbs/hr. Material costs reflect prices paid for flat sheets or coils of metal.
Version III
This is the same as Version I in that it does not include shop labor. Material costs reflect prices paid to local fabricators and vendors. Field labor however is based on the installation of duct in lbs/hr.
Version IV
This is similar to Version II in that it includes shop labor based with productivity based in lbs/hr with material costs reflecting prices paid for flat sheets or coils of metal. Field labor is based on the installation of duct in linear ft/hr with the productivity changing based on duct size.
Options for Welded Duct are as follows:
Option A
Calculates shop and field labor in lbs/hr
Option B
Shop labor includes fabrication time in lbs/hr and welding time in inches of weld/hr. Field labor is calculated in linear ft./hr. with productivity changing based on duct size and it also includes welding time based on inches of field weld/hr.
Option C
This option is the same as Option B except that field labor is calculated in lbs/hr and it also includes welding time based on inches of field weld/hr.
Historical Data
One of our more recent additions is Historical Data. This allows you to select appropriate jobs and to save them by category and property. You actually save the sheet metal and pipe estimates along with the excel recap. There are 15 possible self defined categories such as ambulatory surgery center, hospital, school, bank etc. There are 20 self defined properties such as chilled water, hot water, electric heat and spit systems.
This allows you to do a search based on categories and properties. For instance you can select the category schools with properties chilled water, electric heat and VAV boxes. This will bring up all projects that meet these criteria which have also been designated to be a historical project. This helps in budgeting projects and serves as a quick reference and check on projects that you are estimating |
